Coward fugitive returning under judicial asylum,’ PTI on Nawaz’s return

 Saturday, October 21, 2023

The state forces "bound the nation in the chains of dictatorship".
Imran launched political fight against criminals: PTI.
"The nation is ready to 'welcome' its criminal," says the spokesman.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reacted strongly to the return of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to the country, saying "a cowardly fugitive is returning to judicial asylum".

In a statement on Saturday, a PTI spokesperson said "the state has buried shame, modesty, law and justice with its own hands" to pave the way for the "return of a national criminal" to the country from London.

The three-time former prime minister has returned to Pakistan after ending a 4-year self-imposed exile in London and is hoping to make a political comeback in the upcoming general elections to be held in the last week of January next year.

His smooth return to the country was ensured after he secured relief from the Islamabad High Court and the Accountability Court, averting the threat of immediate arrest upon landing.

Nawaz was prime minister three times, but was ousted in 2017 and given a lifetime disqualification from politics after being convicted of failing to pay an arrears.

Referring to the overthrow of the Imran Khan-led government in April 2022, a PTI spokesperson said that after the regime change plot, elements of the state, after making a mockery of the constitution and democracy, "bound the country and the nation in the chains of dictatorship and were thrown by corrupt wolves".

The statement further said that jailed PTI Chairman Imran Khan started a political struggle against the nexus between criminals and the state 27 years ago.

It said that the nation stands against thieves, mafia and robbers under the leadership of the Khan.

"The nation is ready to 'welcome' its criminal who has been 'adopted' by the state," the spokesperson told PTI, adding that the people will hold accountable the criminals who have robbed the nation from generation to generation.

The statement also reiterated the demand that the immediate holding of transparent, free and fair elections can lead the country out of crisis.
