Canada has announced a 35% cut in foreign student admissions.

Canada is currently facing a housing crisis regarding housing for international students.

For this reason, the Canadian government has announced that in 2024, 35% fewer admissions will be given to foreign students.

A total of 364,000 foreign students will be admitted to Canadian universities this year.

In 2023, 9 million foreign students were given the opportunity to study in Canada.

Canada's Immigration Minister Mark Miller said that other necessary measures, including limiting the issuance of visas, will be taken before the September 2024 semester, so that our universities can provide adequate and optimal support to students.

It should be noted that Pakistani students will also be affected by this ban.

The decision to reduce the number of foreign students is being made under a temporary policy which will be implemented for 2 years.

The policy will not apply to students currently studying in Canada.

Similarly, the policy will not apply to Masters and PhD students.

This policy is applicable from 22 January 2024.
