Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that depriving girls of education is depriving them of a bright future.
Addressing a global conference on girls' education, challenges and opportunities in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized girls' education and said that there are major challenges in the way of women's education in Pakistan, and that voices must be raised and resources allocated for this purpose.
He said that women constitute half of the population in Pakistan, but the literacy rate is only 49 percent. The number of girls is also very high among out-of-school children, and we must raise our voices for this.
Shahbaz Sharif, while mentioning Pakistani women, said that Fatima Jinnah stood by her brother Quaid-e-Azam, Benazir Bhutto became the first female Prime Minister of the Islamic world, Malala Yousafzai is a symbol of bravery and courage, Arfa Karim also made history in the world of IT, and today Maryam Nawaz is the first female Chief Minister.
Malala Yousafzai, more than 150 delegates from 47 countries, and representatives of various international organizations including UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank are participating in the conference underway in Islamabad
