FBISE exams from May 11-13 postponed

 Wednesday May 10, 2023

All examinations scheduled to be held from May 11 to 13 have been postponed in view of the prevailing situation, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced on Wednesday.

All examinations on May 15 will be held as per schedule, said FBISE Controller of Examinations Aqeel Imran.

New dates for the postponed exams will be announced later, he added.

The Punjab Higher Education Department (PHED) announced earlier today that the Class IX examinations scheduled to be held on May 11 and 12 have been postponed.

It also said that all colleges and universities would remain closed for the next two days.

The British Council has also canceled all Cambridge International, Pearson, University of London, ACCA and IELTS exams scheduled for May 11 in Pakistan.

Earlier, FBISE also postponed the exams to May 10 (today).

The development comes amid widespread protests against the arrest of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Imran Khan.

At least four people were killed in the ensuing violence when the army was called in in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. Meanwhile, Sindh imposed Section 144 to maintain law and order.

Mobile data services were shut down the next day, while Twitter, YouTube and Facebook were disrupted.
