US Media Outlets to Sue Trump Administration After White House Ban

Three major US news organizations — CNN, MS NOW and Politico — have announced legal action against the Trump administration after their journalists were denied access to the White House.

The media organizations said they notified the government on Monday that they would file a lawsuit seeking to protect their First Amendment rights and restore access for their reporters.

CNN, MS NOW and Politico Challenge White House Ban

The dispute began after President Donald Trump announced a ban on the three outlets, accusing them of publishing what he described as “fake news.” Reporters working for the organizations subsequently found their White House credentials disabled and were denied entry to the premises.

In a joint statement, the three organizations said the White House had revoked journalists' credentials because of objections to their reporting. They argue that the government should not determine what news organizations report or publish.

First Amendment Rights at Center of Dispute

The planned lawsuit is expected to focus heavily on the First Amendment, which protects freedom of the press in the United States.

The organizations are seeking court intervention to restore access while the broader legal dispute continues. Reports indicate the case is being brought in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

The media organizations have argued that removing access because of disagreement with their coverage raises constitutional concerns. The administration, meanwhile, has defended the restrictions by criticizing the outlets' reporting.

Trump Defends the Decision
