PSL 12 Dates Confirmed: Pakistan Super League to Begin on March 18, 2027

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed the dates for the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). PSL 12 will be played from March 18 to May 2, 2027, with all eight franchises returning for the second consecutive season. 

The announcement marks the beginning of preparations for another major season of Pakistan's premier T20 cricket tournament. The playing window was finalised after consultations with franchise owners and representatives at the PSL Governing Council meeting held in London on September 1, 2026. 

PSL 12 Will Feature Eight Teams

The eight-team format introduced in PSL 11 will continue in the 2027 season. This means all eight franchises will once again compete for the championship.

The expansion from six to eight teams was one of the major changes introduced in the previous edition and has now become part of the league's current structure. 

PSL 12 Schedule and Venues

The PCB has confirmed the overall tournament window, but the complete match schedule, venues and ticketing details have not yet been announced.

According to the PCB, further announcements will be made as preparations progress. Fans will also be waiting for details about the opening match, the final venue and the cities that will host matches. 

Player Auction and Team Preparations

The announcement of the PSL 12 dates also sets the stage for the next phase of team preparations.

The PCB has said that direct signings, player retentions, the trade window and the player auction will follow. These steps will allow the eight franchises to build and strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. 

The player auction will again be an important part of the process after PSL 11 became the first season in which the traditional player draft was replaced by an auction system. 

What Happened in PSL 11?

The 2026 season was a landmark edition of the competition. It featured eight teams for the first time and introduced the player auction system.

Peshawar Zalmi won PSL 11 after defeating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the final on May 3, 2026. The final at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium also attracted a record crowd of 32,461 spectators, according to the PCB.

The result ended Peshawar Zalmi's nine-year wait for another PSL championship.

PCB Looks Ahead to a Bigger PSL 12

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the previous season demonstrated the league's growing reach and expressed confidence that PSL 12 would raise the standard further. PSL CEO Salman Naseer described the date announcement as the first step in preparations for the 2027 tournament. 

With the dates now confirmed, franchises can move forward with squad planning while cricket fans begin counting down to the return of Pakistan's popular T20 competition.
