According to details, in an exclusive interview with national newspaper The News, former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that no one has contacted me and I am not interested in any government post. I would like to make it clear that I am not available for the post of Chairman NAB.
Former Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar was asked if any government official approached him or offered him the post of Chairman NAB, would he accept it? In response to which the former Chief Justice of Pakistan said that I am not available for any government post whether it is the post of Chairman NAB or any other post.
It should be noted that a suitable person is being sought for the post of Chairman NAB.
The names of candidates nominated by the government and the opposition are circulating in the media. For the past few days, there has been speculation on social media that the government wants to offer the post of NAB chairman to former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. On the other hand, some political analysts believe that Imran Khan is considering retaining the current chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.
However, no statement has been issued by any government official in this regard so far. A decision in this regard is likely to be taken in the coming days only after consultation. It should be noted that on October 5, the government decided to extend the current chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal. Following the re-amendment of the NAB Ordinance on November 1, the Federal Government issued a new Ordinance. The Third NAB Amendment Ordinance was issued after the approval of the President of Pakistan. Under the new Amendment Ordinance, the President was empowered to remove the Chairman NAB.
