Islamabad (News advertisment. DW News. December 26, 2021) Many parents said that their children have started small jobs and they will not be able to come to school. In the face of such a situation, one of our fellow teachers said emotionally that even these illiterate people are only a burden on our country. Who can explain to them that lack of education is harming our country?
The other teachers present there also started contributing as much as they could to curse this deprived class. Because the general thinking is that in countries with higher education the economic situation is better and everyone contributes to the development of the country.
On the contrary, since the education rate in our country is very low, we see that this poor and illiterate class does not understand the problems of the country and cannot play any role in solving these problems.
Education is what makes a person conscious and opens the closed windows of the mind.
Without education, man becomes intoxicated in his own world, unaware of the environment around him. He has no idea how the world is going and how much progress has been made. How to deal with new problems in the new era? This too is beyond his comprehension.
Decorated with beautiful colors, a well-titled book may catch the eye of an illiterate person but the treasure of knowledge contained in this book is far from his reach.
Since education teaches us to distinguish between good and evil, an illiterate person is also unable to distinguish between good and bad deeds.
His own life passes like a useless piece, but if he does not give his children the opportunity to get an education, then the next generation will also become a rusty part of the machinery of society.
Continuing this comment, another fellow teacher said that such people are like a burden on our country, who are not playing their role in the development of the country, but are just breaking bread from charities.
According to him, life is all about getting married as soon as the child reaches the age of puberty and then he too joins the race to have children.
On the other hand, educated people are living a very difficult life. From morning till evening they are busy trying to give their children a better future. They do not neglect their education and training even for a moment.
Our children become successful people after working day and night.
Someone gets a professional degree and takes over the running of an organization, while someone sets up his own business and puts the country in the race for development. Then we think of child marriage. In fact, the educated class is actually contributing to the development of the country. These illiterate people are just drunk in their lives, they have no idea of our hard work.
After listening to all these comments, the question arose in my mind that what is the role of these so-called educated people in improving the Pakistani society so far? Unfortunately, in our case, the degree is only proof that this person has spent so many years studying the syllabus of such and such class. But this degree does not at all confirm that this person deserves to be called conscious?
We became educated but failed to become trained.
Every one of us knows that we have no shortage of "educated ignoramuses". While a person deprived of formal education may be said to be illiterate, he may not be as "ignorant as" as there are "degree-ignorant" in comparison. Those who have indigestion of degrees, of course, but knowledge does not spoil them.
In our case, sometimes the more "literate, the greater the fraud." Whether it's tax evasion or breaking the law, obstructing justice, or using political influence to get a loan from a bank. All these feats can be done only by our educated people. Of course, it is not the work of an illiterate person.
An illiterate person of a backward class cannot earn enough to be taxed. However, he has to pay the indirect tax applicable to his meager wages. It is not a matter of concern if her child dies due to lack of dog bite vaccine. If his son commits suicide due to unemployment, there will be no commotion in the government houses.
On the other hand, an "educated man", who not only distinguishes between good and evil, but is also well aware of the fact that taking personal advantage by harming the country and the nation is extremely insensitive. Yet when he starts a business, he first thinks about how to evade taxes.
He also knows how to get easy loans from banks.
Land is also acquired by using political influence, but when the business freezes, it does not affect the salary of the poor employee.
Research shows that 20% of Pakistan's princes own half of the country's income. Twenty percent of the country's poor are entitled to only seven percent of the income. Pakistan ranks second to last in the Human Development Index.
While the country's elite is given 17.4 billion in concessions, no one is going to ask them.
Usually when the income increases, the tax rate increases but this tax is waived for the elite, which was Rs 1.3 trillion in 2020. This is the privileged class, who have higher education and who know how to close this system in their hands.
Just compare for a moment whether the poor illiterate people of the whole country can do such a big corruption together? Can these illiterate people do as much damage to the country as this conscious, highly educated class is doing? An illiterate person commits petty theft but can never cause loss of trillions of rupees to the country.
The higher the rank of an educated person, the more he often plunders. It is the responsibility of the state to educate the poor. Making him a useful member of society was, in fact, the responsibility of the so-called policy makers.
Lack of education is definitely a problem and if efforts were made in the right direction to solve it, the situation would be different today. If trillions of rupees had been spent on education instead of taxes, the situation would not have been so bad.
The illiterate and poor man could not have borne the burden of the country as much as these "highly educated people" have borne from their corruption and the privileges they have been given.
