Another example of extremism, 100 Muslim women including Malala put up for auction on Indian app

New Delhi (News advertisment Latest - NNI. 03 January 2022) Incidents of hatred and extremism against Muslims in India are on the rise, with 100 Muslim women being put up for auction on the online Indian app Billy Buy. According to Al Jazeera, 100 Muslim women have been put up for 'online auction' by sharing photos on the Indian app 'Billy Bai'.

Pictures of the women put up for auction include Muslim actress Shabana Azmi, young Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, the wife of a Delhi High Court judge and several Muslim politicians and social activists. Among the women is the name of Kashmiri journalist Qaratul Ain Rahbar.

Qarat al-Ain had last year spoken out against the release of photographs for the auction of women in Sally Deals, but now the name of a female journalist has been added to the list.

This is the second time that Muslim women have been put up for auction while sharing their photos. Last year too, more than 80 Muslim women were insulted by being offered for sale on an Indian app called Sally Deals.Bai is the second such attempt in less than a year. Mohammad Zubair, a fact-checking journalist for an Indian website, said that in the local language, both Bai Bai and Sally are used in derogatory terms. The application was developed on GitHub, an open software development site owned by Microsoft. According to Qarat-ul-Ain Rahbar, its purpose was to "humiliate and humiliate beautiful Muslim women".
