August 28, 2022) Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced a grant of 10 billion rupees for Balochistan province to deal with the recent rains and flood situation and to help and restore flood victims. Speaking to the media after visiting the flood-affected village Hajiullah Dino in Balochistan on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that I have not seen such a devastating flood in my life. He said that the recent rains and floods across the country are unprecedented in the past.


He said that the effects of climate change and natural calamities cannot be reduced by raising slogans alone.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for hard work regarding the rehabilitation of flood victims and said that we will need technical assistance from other countries to control the flood situation in the country and capital to control natural calamities in the future. Must be done. Rejecting the false statements of some political leaders, the Prime Minister said that the nation cannot be misled by false statements.

He said that I will tell the truth. The Prime Minister said that I reject the statements of Pakistan not standing on its own feet in the last 73 years. He thanked the Presidents of the United Arab Emirates and Turkey and said that they have expressed their sorrow and concern over the loss of precious human lives due to the recent rains and floods in Pakistan. He said that I am also grateful to our friendly countries who are providing assistance under flood relief to help flood victims.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a plane containing relief goods from Turkey will arrive in Karachi today, while a plane carrying relief goods sent by the United Arab Emirates will reach Islamabad. He said that we are grateful to our friendly countries for their cooperation and solidarity. He said that Britain and other countries have also announced support in this hour of difficulty, for which we are grateful to them.

The Prime Minister also appealed to the noble classes of the country to come forward to help the millions of flood victims and donate to support them in this hour of need. He said that in the past also he had helped his brothers in difficult moments. The Prime Minister said that donations are also being received in the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. He also appreciated the donation of Rs 45 million by an industry group and the donation of Rs 10 crore by individuals.

Earlier, acting governor of Balochistan Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, chief minister Abdul Qudous Bizenjo and chief secretary Abdul Aziz Aqeeli, officials of NDMA and PDMA were also accompanying the prime minister on his arrival in Balochistan. The prime minister said that during the aerial survey, I have seen a huge amount of flood water in other areas including Kutchhi and Sahabatpur, which was giving a view of a sea.

He said that the flood water has spread in the areas of Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Ghotki. He said that in 2010, Pakistan faced a huge flood, but it was limited to the areas around the Indus River, however, the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan have been badly affected by the recent devastating floods. He said that due to heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, many hotels and houses were washed away in water in Swat and Kalam as a result of floods in rivers and streams, and hundreds of people lost their lives.

He said that not only crops and livestock have been damaged due to floods, but also many problems are being faced due to standing water. The Prime Minister said that in my political and personal life I have not seen such destruction caused by floods. He said that the recent floods have affected hundreds of villages, many lives have been lost and lakhs of houses have been washed away which is a cause for concern.

The Prime Minister said that the federal government will provide financial assistance of 25 thousand rupees to each flood-affected family through NDMA and Benazir Income Support Program, in this regard a grant of 38 billion rupees was allocated. He said that no eligible person will be deprived of the financial assistance package. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that I have already announced a grant of 15 billion rupees for Sindh.

The Chief Minister of Sindh and his team with the support of the relevant departments are working day and night to help and restore the flood victims. The Prime Minister also appreciated the performance of rescue and relief work by Chief Minister Balochistan and his team and said that all kinds of needs are being provided to the victims in the camps established for them. He stressed the need to ensure provision of clean drinking water and said that I have already directed the Energy Minister to monitor the process of restoring electricity in the affected areas.

The Prime Minister said that with the help of Pakistan Army and Navy helicopters, around 50,000 people trapped in the flood have been shifted to safe places. Earlier, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing by the Chief Secretary of Balochistan who said that 20 districts including Qila Saifullah and Qila Abdullah have been badly affected in the province while 1.3 million people are affected by the floods.

He said that more than 65 thousand houses have been completely destroyed due to flood in Balochistan while Quetta Sukkur link road bridge is closed due to overflowing. He said that 25 small dams have broken in the province while cracks have appeared in 78 other dams. The Prime Minister was informed that due to the recent rains and floods, 450 solar tube wells have been damaged in the province, while lakhs of acres of agricultural land have also been badly affected. He said that along with the provision of cash financial assistance by BISP, arrangements have been made to provide food and other essential items to more than one million people in the province. The prime minister also met the flood victims on the occasion of his visit to Jafarabad.
