Hafiz Muhammad Farid was driving an Uber taxi in Australia to support his wife and other family members in Pakistan. Two and a half years ago, Hafiz Mohammad Farid raped a girl in his own taxi, after which he was arrested. It has been reported that the perpetrator raped the girl who was on her way home after attending a late-night party in an area 14 kilometers from Melbourne city,two and a half years ago in September 2018.
The offender offered the 18-year-old girl a lower fare if she allowed him to have sex while she was getting into a taxi. However, the victim categorically refused and said that he has no problem in paying higher rent. However, the criminal stopped his car after going some distance and attacked the girl who was sitting in the back seat of the car.
After this Pakistani youth assaulted the girl, she was raped, later the victim managed to escape from the grip of the criminal. The raped girl ran away from the taxi and reached a house in the nearby population, from where the incident was immediately reported to the police. After receiving the information about the incident, the police reached the spot and arrested the taxi driver.
After the arrest, Hafiz Babar had a long case in the court. During the case, the accused subjected the victim to mental torture in public while trying to give a new color to the incident. The accused took the stand in the court that whatever happened between the two, was consensual. However, during the investigation, DNA test revealed the lie and crime of the criminal, after which the court sentenced him to 5 years in prison.
The court ruled that the criminal cannot be released on bail before 3 years. It is now reported that the criminal has pleaded guilty in the court and has taken the stand that he used to drive a taxi in Australia to support his wife in Pakistan, so his sentence should be commuted. After the guilty's confession, the sentencing judge has decided to deport the criminal after completing the 3-year prison sentence.
It has been reported that the criminal has already been in custody for 398 days, so he will now serve a shorter jail term. The judge has said in the judgment that since the criminal has confessed, he is ashamed of his crime, so he should be released and deported.
