Police have said the lady and kid were wounded about suppertime Friday outside Crawford Fields School in southeast Edmonton.

The suspect was in emergency clinic in basic condition, police said, and Alberta's police guard dog was exploring the shooting.


Police said they couldn't say whether the suspect knew the people in question.


Max Dow, 13, took a teddy bear to the recreation area. Remaining with his folks, he said he had seen piece of the assault.


"It was truly realistic, there was blood all over the place," he said. "It resembled right out of a thriller."


He said the lady was with two kids in a white vehicle, when a man went dependent upon them. The man got one of the kids by the head and slammed the youngster into a vehicle entryway, he said.


"Then he began cutting," said Max. "I told the other (youngster) to run, I returned home and told my family and they called police."


Donna Robillard said her eight-year-old granddaughter, who got away from the assault, "will struggle." "She will require a great deal of guiding since she has seen everything."


Carolann Robillard, a solitary Cree mother of three, was a benevolent nonconformist, said her previous brother by marriage Dave Mill operator. He portrayed Jayden as kind and adoring.


Dan Lauton went to the vigil with his family and brought a bundle of roses. He said his girl and Jayden both went to Crawford Fields, and he was stunned to know about the killings.


"The insane thing for me was that it was out so everyone can see … a mother and her child at the recreation area, similar to it should have been at a supermarket," he said.


Edmonton Government funded Schools said in a proclamation that staff and understudies will require support. "The division's Basic Occurrence Backing Administrations group will be accessible at Crawford Fields School on Monday morning when classes continue," it said.


Joined Moderate Party Pioneer Danielle Smith talked about the killings on Twitter. "This is completely shocking and my heart goes out to the whole group of the people in question," she composed.
