Many people may be curious about the future whereabouts of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is moving from his longtime home in Seattle to Miami after it was revealed that Bezos is leaving.
The answer is a private island that is home to some of America's wealthiest celebrity neighborhoods.
Indian Creek, otherwise known as the Billionaire Bunker, is a 300-acre man-made barrier island in Biscayne Bay that is home to some of the biggest names in business, entertainment and sports.
Speaking to NBC6 about the history of Indian Creek, Historia Miami Museum historian Paul George revealed that the development first began during the real estate boom of the 1920s.
According to George, it was designed as an Italian-Mediterranean community.
The Indian Creek Village Police Department was established to provide a police force and marine patrol to the community after Indian Creek Village was incorporated in 1939.
Currently, the island is home to dozens of residences, a golf course, a country club and, of course, a few famous people.
“The focal point was the golf course and the clubhouse, and that's what you always see when you come to the island,” George explained. “That will happen there first of all.
Just two months after buying a nearby estate for $68 million, Bezos bought an Indian Creek mansion for $79 million in October, Bloomberg reports.
It is said that the only way to get to the island village is through a two-lane bridge that is constantly watched by armed soldiers.
Bezos will now be joined by other A-list stars, including musician Julio Iglesias, NFL great Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
In 2020, Tom Brady moved to Indian Creek with his children and then-wife Gisele Bündchen.
Julio Iglesias reportedly lived in the neighborhood for a long time when he bought his first house in Indian Creek in 1979.
In 2021, Ivanka Trump and her husband moved there after reportedly buying a house that belonged to Iglesias.
