England determined to ‘put things rights’ in clash against Pakistan: Buttler

We'd like to leave India putting in a proper performance,” says England captain

England have decided to secure a place in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

"We didn't perform as well as we wanted," admits Buttler.

On November 11, England decided to break away from Pakistan.

Ahead of the final match against Pakistan, England captain Jos Buttler said the team had shown a desire to "get things right" in India at the ongoing ICC Men's World Cup 2023.

The England captain said the team was determined to secure a place in the 2025 Champions Trophy by finishing in the top eight, Reuters reported.

The 2019 champions beat the Netherlands by 160 runs in Pune on Wednesday to end a five-match losing streak and climb off the bottom of the table to seventh with four points.

Ahead of the bottom three - Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Netherlands - on sheer pace, England will head to Kolkata for their final game against Pakistan, who will host next year's eight-man Champions Trophy.

"We haven't performed the way we wanted to this whole tour and we would like to leave India with a good performance," Buttler told reporters.

“I think everyone was frustrated, but the guys stayed tight ... the guys probably trained as hard as they have been training all trip, which shows the level of commitment and desire to get things right.

"We're not playing for what we wanted to play for, but it's a really vital game for us in the grand scheme of things."

"It's great that we're heading there with something on the line," he added.
