Hilarious Israeli army thinks calendar includes names of Hamas 'terrorists'

IDF shares video where its spokesperson is apparently exploring a place where Hamas fighters were before

Tuesday, November 14, 2023

As the war between Israel and Hamas rages and Tel Aviv's military shows its strength by indiscriminately targeting civilians and hospitals, disinformation is also on the rise - seemingly pushed by pro-Israeli people.

During a major event such as an armed conflict, many social media users share misleading or unsubstantiated claims, including distorted images or altered documents, in an attempt to shape public perception.

This included fake footage of women being assaulted after they died, Hamas "paragliders" - which was actually an old video of Egyptian paragliders - and many other video clips, including the famous 40 Babies.

But the latest one sent people into a fit and rage, as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared, showing they are pushing state-level propaganda.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the IDF said its spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, went through one of "Hamas' underground terror tunnels - only to come out at the Rantisi hospital in Gaza on the other side".

"Inside these tunnels, Hamas [...] hides, operates and holds Israeli hostages against their will," the post said.

The fun starts now.

As the IDF spokesman walked through the site, he arrived at a room he claimed was where Hamas members were holding hostages - who were kidnapped on October 7 when the group attacked Israel.

"We are in an operation [...] against Israel," the spokesman said, pointing to a calendar nailed to the wall.

He went on to describe it as "a watch list where every terrorist writes their name and every terrorist has their own shift that watches the people who have been here".

When the Israeli military posted the video on their X account, people were quick to point out that they needed to learn Arabic because they were surrounded by Arabic-speaking nations.

Fact checker Mohammad Zubair pointed out that the calendar only has written days, nothing more.

With the conflict not even close to halting, there will be more occurrences where individuals will share unconfirmed cases — yet that is the point at which we ought to comprehend that no data ought to be consumed with no guarantees and we really want to cross-check things coming in.
