The Stranger Things producer has issued a much-needed clarification to avoid backlash from the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Shawn Levy has confirmed that the younger cast members in Season 5 of the Netflix hit will not be exposed to anti-aging artificial intelligence technology. Additionally, he shared that the latest installment has been written, but filming has yet to begin.
Concerns have been growing since the release of Season 3, which came out two years after Season 2, and again in Season 4, which came out three years later.
In an interview with Deadline, the Canadian producer refuted claims of the production using technology to alter the actors' appearance due to the years-long delay between filming.
While expressing his admiration for the new virtual tool, he assured that the production has no plans to use it for the coming-of-age story and confirmed his confidence in the show's makeup and costume department to get the job done.
He concluded that making the characters of Eleven, Will, Dustin and other younger actors would prove to be "more distracting" than if they looked older than last season.
