Lahore (Urdu Point, Latest Newspaper, December 9, 2023) Founder PTI has challenged the action of the Election Commission and the jail trial in the court. Founder PTI filed an application in Lahore High Court through the mediation of Salman Akram Raja and Barrister Sameer Khosa. Federal Government, Election Commission and Superintendent of Adiala Jail were made parties in the petition. The position was adopted in the petition that the Election Commission has started the action of insulting the Election Commission illegally.

The Election Commission is not a court, the commission does not have the power to act as a contempt commission. The Election Commission has decided a jail trial in this case which is illegal. A secret trial in jail is a violation of Article 4 of the Constitution. It has been further stated in the petition that the Election Commission has fixed the date of December 13 for the indictment process in the jail.


In the petition, it was requested that the Lahore High Court annul the decision of the Election Commission to conduct a jail trial.

The court should issue an order for an open and free and fair trial. The Lahore High Court stopped the indictment proceedings through a secret trial until the final decision of the petition. Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had challenged the decision of the Election Commission to hold intra-party elections again in the Lahore High Court. Filed by Insaf Imran Khan.

The Election Commission was made a party in the petition. It was said in the petition that intra-party elections should be held on June 10 last year according to the law and the constitution. The Election Commission passed an illegal order to hold intra-party elections again within 20 days. The Election Commission's order is illegal and against the constitution. In the petition, it was requested that the Lahore High Court should annul the order of the Election Commission to hold intra-party elections again. The court declared the intra-party election held on June 10, 2022 as valid.
