As the weekend drew to a close on Monday, the good news for Pakistani fans was that the New Zealand cricket team, which had canceled its tour in September, would visit Pakistan twice next year.
The two tours have been finalized following talks between Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Rameez Raja and New Zealand Cricket Board chairman Martin Snyden on the sidelines of the recent ICC meeting in Dubai.
Why two visits?
The New Zealand team will make its first trip in a two-stage tour in December 2022, during which it will stay in Pakistan until January 2023.
Meanwhile, she will play two Tests and three ODIs against Pakistan.
The tour will be part of the ICC's Future Tour program. The Test series will feature in the ICC World Test Championship, while the ODI series will be part of the ICC Men's World Cup Super League.
After completing this tour, the New Zealand team will return to Pakistan in April 2023.
She will play five ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals during the tour. The tour will be to compensate for the tour that the New Zealand cricket team left Pakistan without playing in September this year.
The team will tour Pakistan twice next season. Following successful meetings between the two administrations last month, tours were agreed for Dec 2022-Jan 2023 to play 2 WTC Tests & 3 ICC Super League ODIs - before returning in April for 5 ODIs & 5 T20s. https://t.co/rZ8YPJ4MS1

Rameez Raja's anger turned into happiness
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Rameez Raja is happy with the co-operation of the New Zealand Cricket Board and attributes it to good relations between the two boards. At the same time, they do not forget to remind that this proves the important place of Pakistan in the international cricket community.
The New Zealand Cricket Board described the tour in one sentence. 'It's good to be going back'.
It may be recalled that the New Zealand team came to Pakistan in September this year to play a series of three ODIs and five T20 Internationals.
But shortly before the start of the first ODI in Rawalpindi on September 17, it was reported that the New Zealand team had decided to end the tour and return home due to security concerns.
Following the New Zealand decision, the England team, which arrived in Pakistan in October, also canceled the tour of its men's and women's teams, which provoked strong reactions not only in Pakistan but all over the world against New Zealand and England. The boards were severely criticized.
Rameez Raja took a strong stand on that occasion and said in what world do New Zealanders live? They will now hear us in the ICC.
It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan himself had spoken to the Prime Minister of New Zealand to continue the tour of the New Zealand team, but no positive results were forthcoming.
The New Zealand Cricket Board said its team was facing security concerns but declined to share any information with the Pakistan Cricket Board and security agencies in Pakistan.
Big teams to visit Pakistan next year
Before finalizing the tour of the New Zealand cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board has also confirmed the tours of the cricket teams of Australia and England which will take place in the near future.
The Australian team will visit Pakistan in March-April 2022 in which it has to play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20.
Test matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi while Lahore will host ODI series and T20 matches. This will be Australia's first visit to Pakistan since 1998.
The England cricket team will visit Pakistan in September and October next year. She will play seven T20 Internationals during the tour.
After next year's T20 World Cup, the England team will return to Pakistan and play a series of three Test matches.
The direction will be determined by PSL
The West Indies' recent tour of Pakistan also fell to Kod when the one-day series after the T20 matches will now be played next year.
It's important to have experienced cricketers in these teams."
Former Pakistan cricket captain Rashid Latif says the New Zealand team's tour has been announced too early as it has a full year left.
He said that the most important thing is that whichever big team be it England or Australia or New Zealand must come to Pakistan but it is very important to have experienced world class cricketers in these teams.
"We have seen that when the Pakistani team went to South Africa, many of their best players went to the IPL. Similarly, New Zealand world class cricketers did not come to Pakistan in September this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board should ensure from these cricket boards that whichever team comes to Pakistan, they should come with all their big players. When the big players are not in the teams, the fans are not interested in these matches.
Former Pakistan Test cricketer Bazid Khan thinks it is an important step for Pakistan to host an ICC event as well as for big teams to come here.
