The first visit of any Israeli Prime Minister to the United Arab Emirates

 Sunday 12 December 2021

Islamabad (News advertisment. DW Urdu. 12 December 2021) This visit is taking place at a time when the G7 summit of global powers on regional tensions is underway. The G7 group of the world's seven largest industrialized nations has agreed to take a joint stand against Russia, China and Iran. Nuclear talks with Iran are also being viewed with frustration.

Israel has sought to establish joint defense agreements with Gulf Arab states that, like Israel, are concerned about Iran's nuclear activities. But the UAE has kept the door open for talks with Iran. The Arab state sent a senior official to Tehran last Monday.

I am going to the United Arab Emirates today, the first visit by an Israeli prime minister to the United Arab Emirates," Bennett told his cabinet.

He will meet Crown Prince Muhammad bin Ziad Al Nahyan.

The United States established diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco through Israel through the "Abrahamic Treaty." Abraham is a religious figure whom Muslims, Christians and Jews consider very sacred and respected.

Bennett's visit on Sunday will be the first by an Israeli prime minister to one of these Arab countries.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who signed the "Abrahamic Treaty", had his visit to those countries canceled due to the Corona epidemic. Israel has said that Bennett and Sheikh Mohammed will discuss economic relations between the two countries.

After the resumption of relations between Israel and this Arab state, a deal was reached to supply Gulf oil to the Red Sea. The deal has been challenged by environmentalists in Israel's Supreme Court, and Bennett's energy minister is opposed to the deal. Bennett's government will decide the future of the deal this week.
