Naseem Shah suffered a shoulder injury during the Asia Cup and was ruled out of this year's World Cup as a result. He also underwent surgery in the UK. "Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah began the final phase of his rehabilitation today at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore," PCB said in a press release on Wednesday.
"The young fast bowler was injured during the Asia Cup in September after which he underwent surgery in the UK. After the surgery, he stayed in the UK for two months for rehabilitation and initial training as the PCB covered his medical expenses. and received continuous care from a team of expert medical staff.
"Naseem's rehabilitation is ongoing at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore under the supervision of a strength and conditioning coach, a physiotherapist and a doctor," the press release added.
Currently, he is doing light gym workouts and partial bowling practice and will start batting tomorrow. Earlier, Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Quetta Gladiators' premium fast bowler Naseem joined Islamabad United in a massive swap deal. Naseem Shah was the talk of the cricket fraternity and every PSL franchise was trying their best to get the 20-year-old on board when it was reported that the right-arm pacer had decided to leave Quetta.
Quetta now got the first round platinum pick of Islamabad while later Quetta got the third round platinum pick. There were rumors that Naseem could join Multan Sultans, who recently linked Iftikhar Ahmed to another swap deal or Peshawar Zalmi, but Islamabad Pacers emerged victorious in the race for his signature.
