Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that 60 percent of vacant posts are being eliminated and 150,000 vacant posts have been eliminated so far.
While holding a press conference in Islamabad, the Finance Minister said that in June 2024, the Prime Minister had formed a committee on the rightsizing of the federal government. The scope of the committee was 45 ministries, which had 400 affiliated institutions.
The Finance Minister said that we have decided to gradually reduce the size of the federal government, the number of 80 federal ministries has been halved, measures to reduce government spending will be completed by June 30, vacancies are being eliminated by 60 percent and 150,000 vacancies have been eliminated.
Muhammad Aurangzeb said that in the first phase, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs and SAFRON will be merged, 80 institutions are being reduced to 40, and the federal government is working to reduce its expenditure of Rs 900 billion.
